UGA has not worn black at home since Alabama blew the Dawgs out in 2008.

If everyone and everything is to be believed, the Georgia Bulldogs will dust off their black uniforms for the first time since 2008 for this week’s paycheck game against Louisiana-Lafayette.

First you have athletics director Greg McGarity saying before the season started that the Dawgs would be in black once a year, starting this year.

“Whenever the black jerseys are worn, people will know well in advance of it,” McGarity said in August. “It’s not a gimmick, it won’t be a surprise. It will be up to coach Smart to make that call, but it will be a home game.”

Then you have what was on Georgia’s own website before the season started, that fans were told to wear black for the Nov. 19th game against ULL.

There’s this tweet:

But the boss man hasn’t confirmed any of that. Kirby Smart was asked during Monday’s press conference about the wardrobe for Saturday. The reporter prefaced his question by saying they haven’t confirmed it will be this week. The coach’s answer was pretty short.

“We haven’t confirmed that yet. You’re right,” Smart said.

So perhaps we will all find out together on Saturday.
