Former UGA players Will Muschamp and Kirby Smart square off in Columbia on a Sunday.

5:52 — FINAL SCORE: Georgia 28, South Carolina 14

5:50 — Fourth sack of the day for UGA, doubling its season.

5:48 — First Georgia kickoff return TD since McKenzie against Kentucky in 2014.

5:46 — TOUCHDOWN GEORGIA: Terry Godwin recovers the onside kick and returns it for a TD. Georgia leads 28-14 with 1:33 left.

5:43 — Touchdown South Carolina: Rico Dowdle with a one yard TD run. Georgia 21, South Carolina 14 with 1:40 left in the fourth quarter.

5:37 — Lorenzo Carter went 17 games without a sack. He’s now had one each in the last two games.

5:30 — This is the most rushing yards Georgia has had in an SEC game since 2007.

5:24 — Brian Herrien now with 81 rushing yards. This is the first time UGA has had two 100 yard rushers since the 2014  Auburn game.

5:22 — That was UGA’s 5th TFL today, which ties a season high.

5:20 — Maurice Smith with a great open field tackle on fourth down to end a USC drive at the UGA 33 with 9:21 left.

5:15 p.m. — Georgia 303 rushing yards is the most since running for 305 against UK in 2014.

5:12 — TOUCHDOWN GEORGIA: Eason hits McKenzie for seven yards on 3rd down. Georgia 21, South Carolina 7

5:10 — Georgia now over 300 rushing yards. Season high.

5:08 — Got to figure one more score will be enough, but nothing is predictable today.

5:08 — Georgia forces another three and out and now have the ball at the USC 39.

END OF THIRD QUARTER — Georgia 14, South Carolina 7: Instant analysis — This game keeps teetering on the edge of a disaster. Georgia’s offense continues to struggle to keep drives alive because Jacob Eason is giving them nothing. Eason’s first interception of the game bascially became a 14 point swing. A deflected pass in tight coverage was picked off at the USC 10 and South Carolina went 90 yards for their first TD of the game.

Eason is now 4-for-16 for 23 yards with one interception. He has yet to complete a pass longer than 10 yards.

Nick Chubb and Sony Michel don’t get any demerits here. Chubb has rushed for 121 yards and Michel has 115 on the ground. But they can’t do it by themselves and now USC is loading up to stop the run.

Georgia’s defense has played well, only allowed 203 yards. One more UGA score should be enough, but nothing makes sense today.

5:02 — Punter Marshall Long has had a good game with 3 punts inside the 20 and two inside the five.

4:58 — Loudest the USC crowd has been on this 3rd and 10.

4:49 — Both teams have seven points off turnovers. Georgia has forced three and USC has forced one.

4:48 — Touchdown South Carolina: WR Deebo Samuel on a speed sweep from nine yards. Georgia 14, South Carolina 7 with 3:49 left in third quarter.

4:45 — South Carolina had 31 yards on its first five drives. They’ve had 125 since (3 drives).

4:38 — Deflected pass intercepted by USC at the UGA 10 yard line. UGA’s first turnover of the game.

4:36 — Both Michel and Chubb over 100 yards now.

4:31 — South Carolina goes 3-and-out for the third time today. UGA ball at its 25.

4:08– HALFTIME: Georgia 14, South Carolina 0: Instant analysis — Georgia has rushed for 195 yards in the first half and forced three turnovers. Yet they are only up 14-0 over a team that has crossed midfield one time. Needless to say, this should be a blowout. But the Gamecocks are hanging around.

Jacob Eason is a big reason for that. The freshman is looking like a freshman right now. He has 14 passing yards on 13 passes. That’s 1.o7 yards per attempt, which, is sort of hard to do. Eason has three completion, a nine yarder to Nauta, a nine yarder to Chubb, and one for -4 yards to Michel. None of those are WRs.

Nick Chubb and Sony Michel will both go over 100 yards in this game. Michel is at 92 yards on 13 carries, with Chubb at 72 yards on 12 carries.

Georgia’s defense is playing great against a very poor offense. I’m surprised Perry Orth has played the entire game, getting only the first downs. But the last drive he started to get a little momentum before he made a bad pitch on an option for the team’s third turnover.

Kirby Smart clearly has no faith in the kicking game and it’s hurt him twice now. Deciding to punt instead of kicking a 45-yarder and still having to go for the endzone on the final drive.

Georgia is letting South Carolina stay in this game. But I just don’t see their offense doing enough to comeback. But right now they won’t have to do a lot.

4:08 –UGA’s Kirby Smart to Chuck Dowdle: “We’ve got to cash in turnovers and play better  in our passing game.”

4:04 — Eason is averaging 1.07 yards per attempt.

3:55 — South Carolina crosses mid field for the first time but fumbles on the next play. Baker recovers. UGA ball at its own 33.

3:53 — South Carolina has yet to cross its 35 yard line.

3:52 — Dawgs can’t do anything with the turnover and punts down to the USC 2 with 3:22 left in half.

3:50 — UGA WRs have yet to catch a pass today. Nauta 1 catch for 9. Chubb 1 catch for 9. Michel 1 catch for -4.

3:46 –South Carolina fumbles on a pitch from Orth. Running back never caught it. UGA ball at the USC 36.

3:39 — Christian Payne lead a convoy on the sweep for Herrien. UGA rushing the ball as good as it has all season.

3:36 — Rushing yards: UGA 141. South Carolina minus-9.

3:34 — Eric Zeier on UGA Radio: It’s like the entire USC line forgot how to block on the same play. UGA ball at its 26.

3:32 — First 1st down for Carolina comes with 9:31 left in the first half.

3:29 — Michel 69 rushing yards on 10 carries. Nick Chubb 68 rushing yards on 11 carries.

3:27 p.m. — TOUCHDOWN GEORGIA: Nick Chubb with a one yard TD run. UGA 14, USC 0 with with 10:27 left in half.

3:20 p.m. — That was the first interception of the year for Parrish. He had two last season.

3:17 p.m. — Malcolm Parrish with an interception, giving UGA the ball at the USC 27.

3:13 — END OF FIRST QUARTER: Georgia 7, South Carolina 0 — Instant Analysis: This feels like it should be a blowout right now. Georgia is running the ball down South Carolina’s throat but only has seven points to show for it. UGA rushed for 113 yards on 14 carries (8.1 yards per carry), with Nick Chubb leading with way with 60 yards. But Jacob Eason has struggled so far going 2-for-5 for five yards. He’s missed a couple of wide open players.

South Carolina’s offense so far looks as inept as advertised. The Gamecocks have rushed three times for zero yards and Perry Orth has under thrown a couple of open WRs.

The crowd has filled in fast, I’m not great at guessing but 50,000 seems possible.

3:11 — Rushing yards: UGA 113 yards (14 carries). USC – 0 on 1 carry.

3:10 — USC has tight end Hayden Hurst fielding punts. Haven’t see that before.

3:10 — UGA runs well on seven straight plays, then an incomplete pass and a penalty blow up the drive. Dawgs punt. USC ball at its 9.

3:07 — Incompletions vs South Carolina. Eason in ’16 – 3. Lambert in ’15 – 1

3:03 — Georgia with a lot of success running right up the middle. UGA rotating Chubb and Michel pretty evenly. Chubb 6 for 51. Michel 4 for 33

3:01 — South Carolina goes 3-and-out again…with the help of Terry Googer falling down short of the first down marker on 3rd down. UGA ball at 17

2:56 — The Dawgs rushed for 64 yards on it’s first drive and gets two on two carries on the second. 3-and-out. USC ball at its 21.

2:50 — Deandre Baker nearly intercepts Perry Orth on third down. Gamecocks go 3-and-out on their first drive. UGA ball at its 30.

2:44 — First TD for Chubb since the second week of the season against Nicholls.

2:44 — Dawgs ran five times for 64 yards on that drive. 12.8 yards per carry. That’s pretty good.

2:42 — TOUCHDOWN GEORGIA: Nick Chubb runs up the middle for a 15 yard score. It’s 7-0 UGA with 11:55 left in first quarter.

2:40 — Chubb passes Knowshown Moreno to move into 5th in UGA history for rushing yards.

2:38 p.m. — Chubb with a 28 yard carry on the first play of the game.

2:35 p.m. — Nick Chubb calls heads and wins the toss. UGA is taking the ball. Also helps with wind at the end of the game.

2:26 p.m. — South Carolina officials say they would be thrilled with 50-60K here today, but it looks like it’s going to be less than that. The school will still count this as a sellout since all the tickets were sold.
